Insurance FAQ

Is insurance mandatory for all NexaFreight shipments?
No — insurance is optional but strongly recommended. Without insurance, liability is limited under standard carrier terms (typically $0.50 per lb for domestic, SDR limits for international).
What is the declared value?
The declared value is the commercial value of your goods as supported by an invoice or appraisal. This is the maximum amount insured and paid in case of a total loss.
Are there items that cannot be insured?
Certain high-risk commodities (cash, negotiable instruments, living animals, hazardous materials, illegal goods) are excluded. Contact us for a full list of exclusions before shipping.
How do I add insurance to my shipment?
Insurance can be added when your shipment is created by our admin team, or by contacting us before your cargo departs. It cannot be added retroactively after a shipment is in transit.
Does coverage include delays?
Delay coverage is included in our Premium plan only. Standard and Basic plans cover physical loss or damage, but not consequential losses arising from delivery delays.
